Biography
Joel was born in Colima, Mexico, a small taciturn city in the shadow of two volcanoes. His father exposed him to classic science fiction movies from an early age. He moved to Los Angeles where he began his film education at Santa Monica College and finally graduated suma cum laude from the prestigious UCLA film and television school in 2012. In 2018, he earned a master's degree in directing from the Columbia University.
