Biography

Lynn True graduated from Brown University with a joint degree in Urban Studies and Architecture, and began her film career working on non-fiction television programs as well as on independent documentaries. As a filmmaker, her credits include LUMO (PBS/P.O.V. 2007), about a young woman in the Democratic Republic of Congo recovering from violent rape and Summer Pasture, which follows a family of nomads in eastern Tibet as their pastoral way of life confronts rapid modernization. Called enthralling by The New York Times, Summer Pasture was nominated for an Independent Spirit Award, an IFP Gotham Independent Film Award, and won a Peabody Award. It was broadcast on PBS/Independent Lens in 2012.
