Chuskit

Sprightly Chuskit lives in a remote Himalayan village with her family, where she spends most of her time dreaming of the day she finally gets to go to school. Her dreams are cut short when a tragic accident renders her a paraplegic, bound to a wheelchair for the rest of her life. Now, she has to spend her days indoors, in the company of her tradition-bound grandfather Dorje. But Chuskit still dreams of the impossible, holding out hope that she might be able to attend school in spite of her circumstances. Chuskit finds herself at a crossroads: she will either have to get her grandfather to yield, or she will have to accept the path he has chosen for her? The colors of northern India match the colorful characters in this heartwarming tale of a young woman carving an unexpected path for herself. (Miami Film Festival)
