Set on a desolate beach in Far Rockaway, an empty bridge in Brooklyn, a devastated street in Staten Island and the dark streets of downtown NYC, What Lies Beneath the Sky is a personal portrait of New York and its residents when hit by Hurricane Sandy. Here we observe how nature comes more and more to the front of the city while its people, like the words of narrator Chantal Akerman, gradually become dislocated. "Nature does nothing uselessly," says Aristotle. (Guanajuato International Film Festival)
