Biography

Born in Paris, Niels Schneider is the son of a model mother and an actor-director father. He moved to Canada when he was 8 and had his first dubbing experiences there. In 2003, he got his first role in the series 15/Love. His first film role was in Everything is Fine (2008) by Yves Christian Fournier and he quickly became one of Xavier Dolan’s favorite actors. The director offered him the leading role in Heartbeats in 2010. His performance as the character of Nicholas earned him the Chopard Trophy as Revelation of the Year at the Cannes Festival. He was on the short film jury at the Marrakech Festival in 2015, then at the Cannes Festival in 2017. That same year, he won the Most Promising Actor César for his performance in Arthur Harari’s Dark Inclusion. In 2018, he was in the historical film One Nation, One King by Pierre Schoeller, and the year after, in the drama Sibyl by Justine Triet along with Virginie Efira and Adèle Exarchopoulos. He played also the war correspondent Paul Marchand in Guillaume de Fontenay’s Sympathy for the Devil.
