Biography

Louise Archambault directed, in 2005, her first feature film, Familia, with which she competed at Locarno and won the Best Canadian First Feature Film at the Toronto Festival and the Genie Award from the Academy of Canadian Cinema & Television, also for Best First Film. The second, Gabrielle, was the film chosen to represent Canada at the Academy Awards and received the Audience Award at the Locarno Festival. In 2014 she was named “personality of the year” by La Presse/Ici Radio-Canada in the Arts and Entertainments category. Il pleuvait des oiseaux (And the Birds Rained Down), adaptation of the homonymous novel by Jocelyne Saucier, is her third feature film.
