The Magnificent Seven (1960)

English A simple but beautifully crafted story with likeable characters, great music and ubiquitous gunfights. What more could you ask for in this genre?

Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade (1989)

English Music has Mozart, painting has Da Vinci, football has Pelé, porn has Johnny Sins and film has Steven Spielberg. The Last Crusade is quite possibly the funniest, most balanced and most beautifully told big screen movie ever made in Hollywood. A thrilling ride through bombastic locations, peppered with smart wit, surprising action and such likeable clowns that James Cameron can go fuck himself. Dramatically better and more playful than the already amazing first part. A pleasure factory... 100%

Die Hard (1988)

English The best action movie ever. An avalanche of catchphrases, inventive set-pieces and witty interactions between the characters that we immediately find our way to. Compared to John Woo's equally crammed shakes, Die Hard has the benefit of being more physically painful, more motivationally compelling and, despite the necessary overkill, more believable. Bruce Willis in the role of a lifetime to which he has devoted his soul. A delight.

Marecek, Pass Me the Pen! (1976)

English When I say that it is the funniest and best cast Czech comedy, there is really nothing more to add. The script by the masters Svěrák and Smoljak is brilliant and gives a lot of space to the great actors, led by Jiří Sovák and Josef Kemer, who were a lot of fun to watch. The five stars are absolutely deserved and without question. Where else would you find a film with so many memorable and legendary lines that never lose any of their originality and make you laugh every time you see them?

Looney Tunes: Best of Road Runner 1 (2005) (video compilation)

English Poor coyote, I'm always rooting for him so hard, but he's never going to get that damn roadrunner. If you've ever marveled at the genius and immediacy of Looney Tunes, then you'll agree with me that this hilarious duo is the funniest, most poignant, and sometimes saddest of Warner Bros. Wile E. Coyote is constantly devising the most elaborate and cruel traps, and although it always ends the same, the fun is magnificent and never-ending. I remember one time when huge boulder was coming down on the Road Runner and when it turned and landed on a rejoicing coyote, I couldn't take it anymore and turned off the TV in a rage.

The Looney, Looney, Looney Bugs Bunny Movie (1981)

English I loved Looney Tunes when I was a kid, and after watching these cartoons, I have to say that the magic is still there. Who wouldn't be amused by the perpetually angry Yosemite Sam trying to take down the cunning Bugs once and for all, Duffy laying a golden egg, or the Oswalds being handed out as a parody of the Oscars? a great show, albeit aimed at a younger audience.

Boat Trip (2002)

English I must admit that this travesty made me laugh a couple of times, and Cuba Gooding Jr. and Horatio Sanz made a rather likable duo, but to base the whole plot on dirty talk, hot guys or shots of sexy half-naked models (which isn’t so bad for us boys) seems pretty lame and doomed to a low rating. Really, until the aforementioned models appeared on the scene, the film managed to disgust me just enough. Yet, even then it's not great, and horny Horatio and amorous Cuba Gooding do their best to entertain, and together with the likeable Roselyn Sanchez and the "charming" Roger Moore they manage to make Boat Trip a watchable and briskly paced spectacle. I wouldn't put this teen comedy in the trash, but I don't need to see it again.

How to Pull Out a Whale's Tooth (1977) (TV movie)

English I didn't find this Czech classic that great and I give it four stars only for a few funny scenes and mainly for the great Tomáš Holý. Artists like him shouldn't die at all, let alone at such a young age.

Flushed Away (2006)

English It's so brisk, fun and original that I just can't help but like Flushed Away. Animated films are usually associated with the creation of some non-existent, extinct, future or inaccessible world full of strange and likeable characters, and their success largely depends on how funny and original the creators manage to portray that world, and I think this British animated comedy has done to perfection. The rat world fulfils everything necessary for an entertaining spectacle, and the main characters have so many adventures in their fight against incompetent and hilarious bad guys that the eighty-five minutes pass like water. From the position of a child, a clear five, to the point I regret that I myself have long since grown up... Nice 4*.

Life Is Beautiful (1997)

English The experience of a lifetime. If all films carried messages and emotions like this one, the civilised world could be truly beautiful, joyful and free of ugly ethical crimes. Because if, instead of bloody slaughter and advocacy of violence, we only watched Roberto Benigni singing and playing with his unsuspecting son in a concentration camp, we could never come up with the wrong ideas. Okay, it would certainly get boring soon, but for once it's simply an indescribable viewer's ecstasy. Thanks Roberto! 100%
