Nailah Jefferson is a filmmaker intrigued and inspired by the enduring human spirit. Her debut documentary, Vanishing Pearls, told the story of a little known African American fishing community and their fight for justice following the 2010 BP Oil Spill. Vanishing Pearls is streaming on Netflix. Recently, Jefferson was nominated for a 2017 National Magazine Ellie award for directing Essence Magazine's Black Girl Magic Episode 4. Her narrative debut, Plaquemines, funded by the inaugural Create Louisiana $50k Short Film Grant, was chosen as an American Black Film Festival HBO Shorts finalist and will be available on HBO platforms in 2018.
