Biography

Director and writer of Film and Video. University professor. Journalist, critic and broadcaster advertising. Actor of theater, radio, television and film. Writer of theater, dance, ballet, poetry, novels, short stories, musical texts. He founded Studio Theatre, academy where many actors in the country began and the National Union of Writers and Artists of Cuba (UNEAC). He has been honored with the National Book Award and the Award Hernandez Cata Song Festival Cubana. He was awarded the National Film Award in 2006. His most excel may be mentioned his film ballet Giselle (1963) and La Bella de la Alhambra (1989), a film that attracted more than two million viewers to theaters in Cuba and was awarded the Goya Award for Best Spanish Language Foreign film, Oscar contender for Best foreign Language film Award and Bronze Hand Latino Festival in New York. In 2010, he was honored for his career of over forty years in the Havana Film Festival in New York.
