Bassel started as a production assistant on a number of feature films including the Academy Award-winning film THE HURT LOCKER. He later studied Cinematic Arts at the world-renowned University of Southern California, graduating in 2010. Bassel wrote and produced the feature film THEEB, which won the Orizzonti competition's Best Director award at the 2014 Venice Film Festival. He also shares two screenwriting awards for THEEB from the Miami International Film Festival and the International Film Festival, Belgrade. Bassel also runs Bayt Al Shawareb, a production company in Amman, Jordan, which produces regional content and provides various production services.
