Jarred Alterman

Biography

Jarred Alterman is an award winning filmmaker and cinematographer. His first feature length doc, "Convento" (2011), profiled the kinetic artist Christiaan Zwanikken, who converted a 400-yr-old monastery, in a small village in Portugal, into a home, nature preserve and art studio. The film premiered at SXSW and won a special jury prize at IFFB. It has played in festivals and museums all over the world and now available through Factory25. Over the past fifteen years, Jarred has collaborated with different artists, including Charles Atlas (Hail The New Puritan). He photographed several films for The Merce Cunningham Dance Company, including "Ocean" and "Views for Camera". His new film profiles the Turner-prize nominee Roger Hiorns.
