Biography

Ásgrímur Sverrisson was born in Hafnarfjörður, Iceland in 1964. As a teenager, he was already honored for his short films. Accordingly, he decided to study at the National Film and Television School in England, graduating in 1994. Sverrisson tested different movie genres; he directed music videos, documentaries and feature films. He founded and managed the Icelandic film prize 'Edda'. From 2002 until 2008 he was a member of the board of the Icelandic Film and Televison Academy. In addition, Sverrisson works as a film critic and publicist. "Reykjavik" (2016) is Sverrisson's second feature film.
