Biography

After graduating from Meiji University School of Arts and Letters and Japan Institute of the Moving Image, Sasabe worked as a freelance assistant director. In 2002, he made his directorial debut with Hi wa Mata Noboru. He received the Directors Guild of Japan New Directors Award for Summer of Chirusoku in 2003. His Half a Confession won the Best Picture Award at the Japan Academy Prize.
