Biography

He began his career as a theater director in 1931, and in 1936 he founded the first theater at UNAM. He started directing films in 1941 and was founding director of the Mexican Academy of Film Arts and Sciences in 1942. He is one of the most important directors from the Golden Age and he worked with the most prominent and well-known figures in the history of Mexican cinema, including María Félix, Arturo de Córdova, Jorge Negrete and Gabriel Figueroa.
