Biography

Basilio Martín Patino debuted as a director with Nueve cartas a Berta (1966), winner of the Silver Shell for Best First Film in San Sebastian. His following films included Del amor y otras soledades (1969), the documentaries on the Franco era Canciones para después de una guerra (1976), Queridísimos verdugos (1977) and Caudillo (1977), Los paraísos perdidos (1985), which competed in Venice, Madrid (1987), the TV movie La seducción del caos (1999), Octavia (2002), a contender in San Sebastian's Official Section, and Libre te quiero (2002), a documentary on the 15M movement with which he brought his career to a close.
