Petter Vennerød

Petter Vennerød is one of Norways most experienced writers, directors and producers. He made his directorial debut with Says who…!? in 1978, and has since directed a seven other features, as one half of a directing duo with friend and colleague Svend Wam.

The duo became known simply by their surnames, as 'Wam & Vennerød', an appellation which has become somewhat of a term in itself, and a staple in Norwegian film history when referring to the predominance of social-realist dramas and comedies in Norwegian cinema of the late seventies and early eighties. The duo produced their films through their own production company, Mefistofilm, established in 1974.

In addition to his directorial efforts, Vennerød has also written numerous original screenplays, including for the films where he also served as director and/or producer. Since the mid-nineties Vennerød has also ventured into television production, and in later years has tended more towards producing documentary content, rather than fiction material.
