Biography
Amiel Courtin-Wilson (b. 1979, Australia) shot his first film at the age of nine. Ten years later he wrote, directed, and produced his documentary debut Chasing Buddha, which premiered at Sundance and collected several awards. In addition to fifteen shorts and three documentaries, he has also produced and directed music videos, and his video art has been presented on the international scene. Courtin-Wilson founded the production company Flood Projects, and in 2008 his documentary Bastardy took the Best Documentary Jury Prize at the 2009 Film Critics Circle of Australia Awards (FCCA). The short Cicada (2009), which also features Daniel P. Jones, was presented at Cannes to critical acclaim. Hail, a dramatic reconstruction of an actual life, screened at Venice in the Orizzonti section.
