Biography
Vianney Lebasque co-wrote and directed his first feature film, The Dream Kids, which won the Prix Cinéma of the Fondation Barrière and received a César nomination for Paul Bartel’s performance in 2013. It tells the story of a teenager who’s willing to do anything to fulfill his dreams, despite a potentially fatal illness. Lebasque stayed within dramatic comedy territory and kept dealing with teenage themes by directing the TV series Grown Ups, which won four awards at the La Rochelle International Film Festival, including best directing. In 2018, he’s directing the last segment of an anthology film, Smiley. In the meantime, he co-wrote and directed his second feature film, Les Beaux Esprits, based on a true story that took place during the Paralympic Games in Sydney in 2000.
