Everyone knows it, it is on everyone’s kitchen table. The unassuming salt is in both culinary and health terms much more complex than it would seem. We cannot imagine our lives without salt. From basic chips to the highest culinary arts, salt is an essential part of the world’s cuisine, and same as sugar or fat it has also become a nutrition bogey for some time. With contributions from global experts and with playful animations the film offers several ways of looking at this popular mineral – it examines the amounts of salt consumed by humanity, the differing opinions about its effect on our health and various types and forms it takes not only within the food industry.
