Mother Midnight

Following the death of her headstrong mother, twenty-something Jiwon and her father are struggling to cope with their loss. Things get worse when an aggressive construction worker, Mr. Jo, shows up at the family house demanding that they pay him compensation for a dispute he had with Jiwon’s mother. Unable to pay or defend themselves, her father sinks further into alcoholism while Jiwon appeals to a local shaman for help. Contending with an on-off boyfriend, her father’s worsening depression, and increasingly violent threats of the financially destitute Mr. Jo, Jiwon draws on the dormant feminine power that was embodied by her mother in a desperate attempt to save her home and her family.
