Dick Tracy Meets Gruesome

Boris Karloff, best known as Frankenstein's monster, co-stars with front man Ralph Byrd(Dick Tracy) in this tale about an audacious bank robbery perpetrated by a fugitive prisoner (Karloff). The gang of robbers uses a special gas that has the effect of freezing the bank's patrons in time while the villains get in and out. In this manner, the thieves are able to make their getaway with the loot undetected. But unbeknownst to the crooks, Tess Trueheart (Anne Gwynne) escapes the gas and makes a clandestine phone call to Dick Tracy. When the P.I. arrives on the scene, he interviews the patrons but discovers that none of them saw a thing. When Dr. A. Tomic (Milton Parsons) is reported missing, and his colleague Dr. I.M. Learned (June Clayworth) responds strangely to Tracy's questions, the case is blown wide open. The heroic detective is led to the notorious Gruesome and, in a surprising twist of events, the identity of his superior is revealed. (Echo Bridge Entertainment)
