The film is an adaptation of a same-name zarzuela - Spanish traditional genre of music theatre. This melodramatic comedy takes place on 15 August during a religious festivity worshiping the Virgin of the Dove. This yearly celebration used to be accompanied with dance and music. (Summer Film School)
