The Terror of the Tongs is a film that doesn't have any fundamentally good plot direction. The main character is rather bland, so it's mainly the Chinese or at least those who look like Chinese, who move the story forward a bit. There are cruel scenes here, but most of the cruelty happens off-camera. In that regard, it's still somewhat toothless, but the effort was there. If you're not a die-hard fan of Hammer, it's possible that the film won't do much for you.
