Frozen Gold

In this high adrenaline reality series with competition at its heart, we follow six teams of American miners and prospectors as they head to Greenland for one gold mining season in the hopes of finding the ultimate mother load! Travelling into the arctic wilderness by icebreaker and helicopter, we’ll watch as our miners get to work, battling against the elements, using equipment like mega excavators, military-grade explosives, huge sluice machines truckmounted underground drill rigs and thermally heated diving suits, allowing them to mine for gold anywhere from the top of Greenlands frozen peaks to the bottom of the ice-cold lakes. While the miners are hard at work we’ll also follow the prospectors trekking across the rugged landscape searching for the ultimate prize, an undiscovered and untouched hoard of gold. Each prospector has their own tools and trick of the trade from high tech drones equipped with icepenetrating radar to low tech panning and prospecting knowledge passed down through generations to the totally unscientific use of dowsing-rods that many successful miners still swear by and large mining companies use in secret. We’ll keep track of how each team is doing throughout the show in our gold mining and prospecting league table. (Viasat)
