In the eighties, the heads of a province town secondary school can reward a class of children by delegating them to an international construction camp in East Germany. Class 3b, even though not wanting to win the competition entitled Who knows more about the Council of Mutual Economic Help? (the economic union of the socialist block of the time), is made winner by the teachers, since Kriszta, the local party secretary's daughter, belongs to it. Adolescent love is unfolding between the girl and Imi Forintos, and thus – though not allowed by his parents to go to the camp – the boy runs away with the class. The rigid discipline of the German camp is immediately upset by the Hungarian pupils, and the ensuing punishment, harder all the time, is only dropped due to Kriszta being there. The physics teacher defects the camp for the West, while Forintos is awaited at home with a paternal slap in the face. (Budapest Film)
