Earth and Ashes

Earth and Ashes (Dari: Khakestar-o-khak) is a 2004 Afghan film directed by Atiq Rahimi. It was Afghanistan's submission to the 77th Academy Awards for the Academy Award for Best Foreign Language Film, but was not accepted as a nominee. It was also screened in the Un Certain Regard section at the 2004 Cannes Film Festival. It won the Golden Dhow award at the 2005 Zanzibar International Film Festival. (official distributor synopsis)
