I love this unquestionably excellent film that delivers a smart combination of fear of those eight-legged creatures (something that to a greater or lesser extent is encoded in all of us) with effective comedic reliefs. It’s a pity that the ending is more easygoing than tense horror, but it’s still wonderfully made, original and, save for a couple of details, realistic, and doesn’t make a fool out of the viewer. Plus great casting and music. After Jaws, probably the best film with animals in the role of merciless killers, Spielberg has a good nose for that. 80% ()
For arachnophobics probably the most terrifying nightmare and for the rest a pleasant comedy with horror elements. Decent pace, good actors, solid music by Trevor Jones and overall a very enjoyable film. It's a pity that by the end the comedy began to significantly outweigh the drama. ()
