Realising that his success is due not to his pictures, but the coquetry of his model and sweethart, Mariann, Vedres Sándor, painter flees to the Transylvanian Alps with a broken heart and a shattered self-confidence. His peace is upset by the appearance of Klára, who bears a striking resemblance to Mariann. The encounter reopens his hardly healed wounds, so he runs off being very upset and falls into a pit. Mariann's sister, the noble-hearted Klára nurses the unconscious man, who soon recovers, but remains mute. The mute painter finds pure love with the warm-hearted girl. Real success also sets in: he wins a prize at the exhibition in the capital. Success attracts his old lover, but neither she nor Klára's fiancé can disrupt their love. The painter fights with the fiancé and after a shock regains his speaking ability. (official distributor synopsis)
