An alternative variant from DEFA's production on the theme of The Beggar Student called Mazurka der Liebe. While West Germany had a star like Gustav Knuth a year earlier under the classic title The Beggar Student from Carlton-Film, East Germany found Jarmila Kšírová for a while. Here, as Palmatica, Countess Nowalska concluded her promising career. She performed the most adorable scene with a spoiled dog and then handed over the reins of the operetta to her daughters for the Millöcker revue. Or do you perhaps think she was entitled to her own romantic adventures even at her age? This film is all surprises. ()
