Killjoy is just an effort to show black audiences a slasher film that they might enjoy. I'm not sure if this worked on the target audience, though, because the film is kind of just stupid. It has a simple plot, which is truly banal and doesn't even attempt any meaningful explanation; the killing is run-of-the-mill and lacks any spark, and the humor is tragically bad, moreover, it seems it shouldn't even be there at all.
