A simple suburban backyard is transformed into a jungle hell for four kids after they are accidentally shrunk to the size of bugs in this smash-hit comedy. Rick Moranis plays a nerdy inventor whose latest creation--an electromagnetic shrinking machine--seems doomed to failure. But thanks to a shot from a baseball, the contraption zaps Moranis's two kids as well as the two bullies next door down to a quarter-inch tall! Stuck in the wilds of their lawn, the quartet must deal with giant bugs, a killer sprinkler and a runaway lawnmower on their journey back to the house. (Home Box Office)

English When I was a kid, I understandably loved it – there aren't many things a child wants more than to spend a day in miniature in a world of giants. After the years, it remains a fine adventure, but it would work better as an episode in a series about a mad scientist and his various experiments. The exposition is very long and the heroes are uninteresting, while the part around the shrinking doesn't show that much (the best is the scene with the bee and the fight with the scorpion). Fortunately, at least Rick Moranis has a sufficiently funny face and Johnston knows how to work with environments and special effects, so it all sort of passes harmlessly and entertains. ()
