HOW I MET YOUR MOTHER is a comedy about Ted (Josh Radnor) and how he fell in love. It all started when Ted's best friend, Marshall (Jason Segel), dropped the bombshell that he was going to propose to his longtime girlfriend, Lily (Alyson Hannigan), a kindergarten teacher. At that moment, Ted realized that he had better get a move on if he, too, hopes to find true love. Helping him in his quest is his friend Barney (Neil Patrick Harris), a confirmed bachelor with endless, sometimes outrageous opinions, a penchant for suits and a foolproof way to meet women. When Ted meets Robin (Cobie Smulders), he's sure it's love at first sight, but destiny has something else in store. The series is narrated through flashbacks from the future. Stuff (2007) (S02E16)

English Jealousy is this weird disease I've never caught because, well, I'm not exactly my biggest fan. If someone says jealousy is proof of love, they're either clueless about love or they're trying to convince themselves they're way better than they really are. In my book, jealousy screams selfishness and self-love since you want your partner to be your exclusive property, and heaven forbid anyone just glances their way. And if you get jealous about the past, you really have an issue. All that said, the episode was a blast for me — Barney nailed it again, and I really dug how the creators kept a killer idea rolling. / Lesson learned: Don't be a hypocrite. ()

Arrivederci, Fiero (2007) (S02E17)

English The episode was a nostalgic journey bidding adieu to a historical artifact with a bunch of memories. What pleasantly surprised me was that the creators went heavy on the humor, and the whole farewell ended up lifting my spirits. I'm sure there are far worse songs that could have been stuck in that player on repeat. / Lesson learned: Don't toss your old friends in the trash. ()

Moving Day (2007) (S02E18)

English After Marshal's car got a decent send-off in the last episode, packing in loads of humor, this episode seemed to be lacking in that department. Humor took a backseat, and the creators gave the green light to relationship drama, which honestly left me pretty bored. / Lesson learned: Never get in a serial killer's van. Your health is at stake. ()

Bachelor Party (2007) (S02E19)

English Not the series' all-time best, but a major upgrade after the last episode. The bachelor party seemed a bit awkward, but the storyline around it was solid. Ironically, I found Lily's parody of a bachelor party pretty hilarious; that speech about the sewing machine was just spot-on. Lesson learned: Put some thought into your gift choices. ()

Showdown (2007) (S02E20)

English The pre-credits scene gave me the impression that the episode wouldn't put me in a good mood, but turns out, I jumped the gun on that one. It wasn't just another dull pre-wedding relationship drama like I initially thought. The creators brought in the humor, and even though there were moments that didn't quite hit the mark for me, I didn't have to knock off more than one star from my rating. Once again, Barney stole the show. / Lesson learned: Master the art of tipping. ()

Something Borrowed (2007) (S02E21)

English So, the wedding went down, and I've gotta confess, I braced myself for the plot to be much worse. Luckily, the creators didn't ditch the humor; they threw in a bunch of wedding disasters that really turned things around for me. It helped me power through those moments of over-the-top emotional outbursts. And, as expected, Barney was on fire. / Lesson learned: When you feel mentally unstable, maybe steer clear of sharp objects. ()

Something Blue (2007) (S02E22)

English The second wedding episode felt like a bit of an overkill, even though Barney's scenes hinted at a potentially interesting storyline. The creators missed the mark for me this time, shamelessly cutting back on the humor and spending way too much time dissecting relationships, something I couldn't care less about. / Lesson learned: Never underestimate the importance of getting your nutrients in. ()

Season 3 (2007) (S03)

English With each new season, the series gets a little worse. If the creators keep up this trend, I will run out of stars by Season 6. So far, each season’s rating is one star short of the previous one. I hate it when humor gradually disappears from a comedy series and is replaced by sentimental babbling about relationships, especially when the issues are approached by characters in their thirties in the same way a teenager would deal with them. / Lesson learned: You can’t make something out of nothing. ()

Wait for It (2007) (S03E01)

English I gave this episode five stars, even though I wasn't entirely thrilled with it, even with my "favorite" Enrique Iglesias making an appearance. The intro, picking up right from where the last season left off, was solid, and the way the creators kept the long-term story going in the conclusion was spot-on. Sure, the stuff in between those moments wasn't mind-blowing, but it worked for me. / Lesson learned: Maybe hold off on the drinks before going to the tattoo parlor. ()

We're Not from Here (2007) (S03E02)

English This episode really hit the spot for me in terms of entertainment. I've never been one to go looking for hidden Christmas presents or check my girlfriend's phone to see if she was flirting with anybody, so Marshall's curiosity was a bit baffling, but surprisingly, I found myself enjoying it even more. And, call me crazy, but I think this might be the first episode ever where nothing got on my nerves. / Lesson learned: Be a patriot. ()

Third Wheel (2007) (S03E03)

English Surprisingly, I found myself more annoyed than pleased by this episode. The creators had a promising beginning with jokes, Barney in top form, and potential in the chosen topic, but indecisive Ted ended up ruining everything for me. If there are only two options and it's not exactly Sophie's choice, then it shouldn't take that long, right? Those twenty-two minutes seemed to take forever. / Lesson learned: Can't choose between two options? Shopping must be pure joy for you. ()

Little Boys (2007) (S03E04)

English The fourth episode seemed promising at first, but as it unfolded, it ended up landing somewhere in the middle for me. Despite a few good lines and scenes, the creators couldn't genuinely make me laugh, which was strange because they usually have no problem with that. All in all, I wasn't too thrilled. / Lesson learned: Clichés exist for a reason. ()

How I Met Everyone Else (2007) (S03E05)

English After a couple of lackluster episodes, the fifth one brought some higher-quality humor into the third season. The creators nailed the theme – the first meetup of all the main characters was a blast. Humor was in abundance, and Barney, being his usual witty self, stole the show. The college flashbacks, especially Ted's misadventures in online dating, were hilarious. / Lesson learned: Growing sandwiches behind the garage might lead to unexpected trouble. ()

I'm Not That Guy (2007) (S03E06)

English I was hoping for a more daring storyline given the main theme, but the creators played it a bit safe. It ended up being a mediocre deal. They took a step in the right direction, but didn't fully commit. Sure, meeting Kobe and the lobsters was hilarious, but the whole package didn't blow me away. Three stars feel just about right. / Lesson learned: Stick to your guns. ()

Dowisetrepla (2007) (S03E07)

English The seventh episode wasn't bad; had some good laughs (props to Barney and Detective Mosby), but honestly, I wasn't all that thrilled. You know a show isn't clicking with you when you catch yourself checking how much time is left until it's over. And when I'm doing that multiple times in a twenty-minute episode, it's a red flag. / Lesson learned: Don't let your addictions get the best of you. ()

Spoiler Alert (2007) (S03E08)

English At first, the episode seemed like it might lean into another one of those snoozy relationship episodes, but the creators turned the tables fast, giving us a lively and hilarious ride, and I really enjoyed it. / Lesson learned: Don't be annoying. ()

Slapsgiving (2007) (S03E09)

English And here I was, looking forward to the holidays, but the ninth episode let me down big time. You know, holiday episodes on sitcoms are usually top-notch, and with a title teasing the creators' long-term project, my expectations were high. Turns out, the plot went in two directions. One was awesome, packed with fantastic humor, but the other just dished out the same old relationship drama, and it bored me to tears. / Lesson learned: Let sleeping dogs lie. 3*- ()

The Yips (2007) (S03E10)

English Ted's struggle with that exhausting ten-meter run/light jog had me cracking up, and from there, it flowed smoothly. I've never been a fan of gyms, and surprisingly, it's not working out that puts me off. Based on my gym experiences, there's just an abundance of folks with limited smarts but an extra-loud presence. Insecure Barney was a real highlight. / Lesson learned: Don't let insecurity get the best of you. ()

The Platinum Rule (2007) (S03E11)

English The episode had me hooked from start to finish with zero dull moments. No surprises there, because Barney went all out with a deep dive into one of his rules, spicing it up with some real-life examples. This one's definitely up there as one of the show's highlights. / Lesson learned: Don't just learn from your own mistakes, learn from others' mistakes too. ()

No Tomorrow (2008) (S03E12)

English Despite its promising title, the episode got buried under a mound of moralizing and boredom. / Lesson learned: Keep your phone locked. ()
