English A film that ends up somewhere halfway. Within the realm of Czech cinema, it is average, but compared to the global cinematic elite, it fails miserably. The comparison to Kusturica's Black Cat, White Cat is inevitable given the theme and form, and it clearly illustrates the difference between mediocrity and a masterpiece. The film's strong point is Marián Labuda's performance, who brings depth and believability to his character. On the other hand, Bolek Polívka's performance seemed somewhat formulaic, and the other characters often feel like mere props. Overall impression: 45%. ()

English To my surprise, I found the movie quite entertaining at first. But as the plot progressed, it started dragging, and don't get me started on the soundtrack – it went from tolerable to downright unbearable. The story lost some steam in the first half, and all that was left of it was a road trip. I found myself occasionally zoning out, crossing my fingers for that humor from the beginning to make a comeback. Spoiler alert: it didn't. ()
