Roming

Film that stayed somewhere halfway. Within Czech film creation it forms an average, but compared to the world film top it would hopelessly fail. A comparison with Kusturica's movie Black Cat, White Cat is directly offered due to the theme and form of cinematic communication and precisely in this case a difference between average and masterful piece can be seen. The strength of the movie is the performance of Marián Labuda, who lent his character experience and believability. The performance of Bolek Polívka seemed somewhat stereotypical to me and other characters often come across as mere figures. Overall impression: 45%. (10/22/2007)

To my surprise, I found the movie quite entertaining at first. But as the plot progressed, it started dragging, and don't get me started on the soundtrack – it went from tolerable to downright unbearable. The story lost some steam in the first half, and all that was left of it was a road trip. I found myself occasionally zoning out, crossing my fingers for that humor from the beginning to make a comeback. Spoiler alert: it didn't. (10/13/2022)
