Reviews of this series by the user Necrotongue (116)

Dex, Lies, and Videotape (2007) (S02E06)

English This time I rated it with full firepower because I was satisfied with the episode, the plot had excellent pace once again, action and tension were not lacking unlike in the previous episode, and I was only struck by the character of Rita, who seems to have gone through some kind of emancipation crash course as she quickly evolved from a downtrodden, beaten, and abused victim into a proud woman fighting for her truth. ()

That Night, a Forest Grew (2007) (S02E07)

English The seventh episode was sympathetically balanced for me. The creators focused a lot on different interpersonal relationships, but at the same time, they gave enough space to the intense situation between Dexter and Sergeant Doakes and the development of the investigation of the "Bay Harbor Butcher" case. ()

Morning Comes (2007) (S02E08)

English I evaluated the previous episode as high-quality, but this episode was even more elaborate and therefore better. The story this time moved significantly forward, the creators once again managed to create a great atmosphere, there was also a decent amount of action and tension, so I had no reason to complain. ()

Resistance Is Futile (2007) (S02E09)

English I praised both of the previous episodes, but the ninth episode was even better by far. The tension was almost palpable, Dexter's understandable paranoia reached its peak, the quality of the atmosphere fluctuated between excellent and superb, and the ending was a perfect invitation for further continuation. ()

There's Something About Harry (2007) (S02E10)

English The tenth episode could have easily bored me with the repetitive conversations between Dexter and Doakes in the chat in the swamps if I didn't enjoy these debates. When the progressing investigation and Dexter's intense inner struggle were added to that, I was very satisfied. ()

Left Turn Ahead (2007) (S02E11)

English The story once again did not lack a proper dose of tension, nor was there any lack of action. The atmosphere was beautifully oppressive, but the best part was Dexter's inner struggle and the path to an important life decision. I was thoroughly entertained and the end of the episode was the best invitation to watch the next part. ()

The British Invasion (2007) (S02E12)

English The final episode was slightly weaker compared to the previous one, but in my opinion, it still deserved a full rating of stars. The fates of two characters who had a significant impact on the entire second season were resolved, and the creators managed to avoid rushed shortcuts, which I have seen in other series. Overall, I was very satisfied. ()

Season 3 (2008) (S03)

English The third season seemed the weakest one so far, mainly because the writers sidelined the serial killer in favor of Miguel Prada and failed to replace James Doakes. From my point of view, the annoying Rita character didn’t do the series any favors either, only managed to ruin my mood several times. But despite all my quibbles, it wasn’t a total disaster. ()

Our Father (2008) (S03E01)

English The opening episode of the third season didn't particularly impress me with its captivating plot, action, or suspense. The creators developed several plotlines, but due to the running time, they couldn't fully devote themselves to any of them, so in the end, I can say that I have seen better episodes. ()

Finding Freebo (2008) (S03E02)

English I didn't get exactly the spectacle I was looking forward to even from the second episode. The creators apparently spoiled me too much in previous seasons, and now I have higher expectations. The conclusion of the episode was great, but Dexter's new life situation somehow doesn't fill me with enthusiasm. ()

The Lion Sleeps Tonight (2008) (S03E03)

English Maybe it's just my impression, but the first quarter of the third season represents the weakest start of the series so far for me. I can't say that the story has been bad so far, I just can't shake the feeling that both previous seasons were much livelier and managed to draw me into the plot more. ()

All in the Family (2008) (S03E04)

English Basically, it was another standard episode of the third season, which I would rate with four stars under different circumstances, because I also enjoyed Dexter's purely pragmatic reasons for a potential wedding. However, Rita successfully ruined everything for me. I simply do not like her as a perpetually offended and constantly suffering person. ()

Turning Biminese (2008) (S03E05)

English Finally, there was a more substantial episode. Dexter's family problems were mostly put aside, so there was finally enough time to address significant matters, and suddenly I was having a good time. The situation involving Dexter and Miguel began to be really interesting, and even the development in the main case on the precinct was worth it. ()

Sí se puede (2008) (S03E06)

English The sixth episode only lacked a larger dose of cynical humor for me to give it a full rating, because I was otherwise satisfied with the development of the investigation and the action of the friendly duo. I just still have the feeling that both previous seasons were still better. ()

Easy as Pie (2008) (S03E07)

English Although I understand that the seventh episode wasn't full throttle, but subjectively, I added a piece for Camilla. Clearly, omnipresent cancer is really annoying, but being friends with someone like Dexter may not be a bad thing, you never know when you might need such kindness. ()

The Damage a Man Can Do (2008) (S03E08)

English This time, I don't suffer from any moral dilemma, the episode deserves its five stars, and my opinion couldn't be changed even by Rita, although she managed to poison me more reliably than cyanide. I'm sure that if Dexter didn't lack feelings and didn't have his code, he would already have her on the table. ()

About Last Night (2008) (S03E09)

English The first half of the season didn't disappoint me directly, but I was expecting something more, and that something was brought to me in the second half. The story significantly intensified on all fronts, the plot picked up pace, and I can once again enjoy a great atmosphere and quality tension, both of which I have missed a little so far. ()

Go Your Own Way (2008) (S03E10)

English This time, the creators of the series didn't disappoint me either, the psychological war between Dexter and Miguel filled the episode with quality tension, and although there was no major action, the plot was interesting enough for me to have an excellent time. There was no boredom whatsoever to speak of. ()

I Had a Dream (2008) (S03E11)

English Right at the beginning of the episode, Dexter completely amazed me with his performance as a party face, it was really energizing. In the eleventh episode, there was also a decent amount of tension, high-quality atmosphere, and even some action. To sum it up, I enjoyed myself and that's what mattered to me. ()

Do You Take Dexter Morgan? (2008) (S03E12)

English Compared to previous episodes, the plot was slightly weaker and despite it being about catching a serial killer, the pace of the story was paradoxically slower. In the final episode, it was very noticeable that the third season relied mainly on the relationship between Dexter and Miguel, suddenly several weak spots appeared. ()
