Plots(1)

On January 23, 2002, Mariane Pearl's world changed forever. Her husband Daniel, South Asia bureau chief for the Wall Street Journal, was researching a story on shoe bomber Richard Reid. The story drew them to Karachi where a go-between had promised access to an elusive source. As Danny left for the meeting, he told Mariane he might be late for dinner. He never returned. In the face of death, Danny's spirit of defiance and his unflinching belief in the power of journalism led Mariane to write about his disappearance, the intense effort to find him and his eventual murder in her memoir A Mighty Heart: The Brave Life and Death of My Husband Danny Pearl. English Great subject matter, but unfortunately it wasn't even minimally used... Angelina in particular didn't sit well with me at all. And she usually does! What bothers me is that the creators once again relied only on "true events". I suspect that the director wasn’t there during the filming at all. ()

English As I have read somewhere, Daniel Pearl was not really a saint and as a journalist he allegedly poked at everything that seemed even a little bit thorny to him, and he was overly ambitious and sometimes arrogantly opinionated. I don't know what the truth is in this, but I think that as shown in A Mighty Heart, he could not possibly be such a naive kid who, despite all his experience as a journalist, allows himself to be lured into a trap. If so, I feel a little more sorry for his wife in retrospect, because she married not a prudent man, but a fool who actually took his own life. But back to the film. It's not very good, and unfortunately it's also quite one-sided - what I missed most was the reaction to how stubbornly the US refused to meet the hijackers' demands (or even think about meeting them) and how the American public reacted to that. The script is very strangely written, to the point where it seemed to me that there was a complete lack of emotion, but Angelina Jolie does her best and especially at the end, when she learns of her husband's death, she overacts so much that she is believable. Apart from the script, the direction and music are not worth much. I would only praise the sympathetic actress Archie Panjabi. Two and a half stars. ()

English The factual value of the film is unquestionable, as is Angelina's acting. But what's the point of it all when the resulting film is so undynamic. ()

English Danny was a British journalist who traveled to Karachi with his wife, with nothing on his mind other than serious journalism. However, he was kidnapped just as he was doing his job. His wife Marianne (Angelina Jolie), however, did not give up and tried to find out where Danny was at all costs. She was in her sixth month of pregnancy when the incident occurred, but within a month she would find out what happened to her husband. Terrorism is not a peaceful activity, on the contrary, it is an activity that destroys human lives. "The Mighty Heart" tries to convey exactly that, as it tells us that only those who kidnapped Danny are responsible for it, no one else. The film emphasizes that it is not possible to stereotype all Muslims, but that there are those who suffer from terrorism as well, despite being Islamists and having Pakistani nationality.
