Twilight

The mistake must have been made in the book because I don't believe that any dramaturgist would see such dialogue on paper and not immediately whip the scriptwriter for it. One rhetorical gem after another, let loose from the mouths of perhaps the most awkward lovelorn couple of recent years - Kristen Stewart and Robert Pattinson, along with Catherine Hardwicke's tired, unnecessary, and underdeveloped direction, alternated within me a gloating smile with deep yawns. There’s so much wrong with the film that I wonder if someone wanted to sabotage Hollywood in the most insidious way. It’s quite the guilty pleasure, as well the knowledge that I have never wished to be a 15-year-old girl who paints her nails black, stabs the surroundings with her rough eyes, and the highlight of her pleasure is getting deflowered by a pale dude she meets at a gothic convention. Twilight represents a special phenomenon when the number of ratings on FilmBooster is approaching 32 thousand users. The film is obviously amongst the most overhyped symbols of contemporary film pop culture. It is a film that polarizes and evokes passions, from absolute identification among pubescent girls to ruthlessly rejective reactions from the opposite sex, possibly even from intellectual and aesthetic positions. It is true that with Twilight, you can easily find material for cutting criticism. The argument that I am not the target audience is true but irrelevant. Misfits was primarily intended for teenagers, and yet I enjoy that show greatly. In this case, however, I shrug my shoulders and say that Twilight has absolutely nothing to offer me. The future parts of the romantic vampire saga will have to do without my viewership. Overall impression: 25%. (12/30/2012)

I personally can't understand that it has such a low rating. I would have put money on the movie getting at least 80%. I don't think Twilight is playing at being some gritty vampire movie. The atmosphere alone suggests it's something else entirely. Fortunately, it has its die-hard fans, which is the reason why more episodes are being made. I proudly count myself among them! In my eyes, it's all about a great love story, interesting characters, and an original atmosphere. (06/13/2011)

Those who have read the book will be happy, they will get everything, they will say: "Yay", they'll love the characters right away. But those who haven't? Oh, it will be very hard to digest – I suppose. I was debating whether to give it 3 or 4 stars, but in the end it was 3. Why? It might sound a bit presumptuous, but it could have been made into a better movie, I could have done it... Yikes, a bit pretentious, I get it :-D But seriously, it just didn't leave anything in me, I was even bored in some parts and there was so much that could have been said! I just found it unfinished... At least I started listening to Linkin Park again, that's good :-) (11/27/2008)

A contagiously seductive and fragrant combination of classic horror elements, an innocent concept of platonic love, hackneyed plot clichés, Matrix visuals, beautiful natural locations, a Volvo C30 and metrosexuality. How can you resist something like that, especially when it tries to look deadly serious in all its childish naivety? The film is an embodiment of everything that the teenagers of today consider “in” and that sells well. If it hadn’t taken the central couple so long to get together, I might have even condescended to give this a higher rating. A guilty pleasure. (11/25/2008)
