A surprisingly well-constructed thriller in a small space, which at first seems like a boring love story, but as time goes on, the plot tightens and Kevin Costner, in the lead role, faces a nasty conspiracy right in the Pentagon, which with every passing minute turns into a trap. Sean Young is a very charismatic lady, and Costner and Gene Hackman deliver their standard performances. The ending could have been milder, but in the middle of the film, some situations were downright heart-stopping. Roger Donaldson is a good craftsman, and although the film is nothing exceptional, it is of high quality. Above all, it makes sense, which is becoming less common nowadays. ()
