Flynn plays rascal, and convicted murderer, Jean Picard, a man who narrowly escapes death when a British squadron bombs a French prison... just as his execution is about to take place. Picard's liberation last for only a brief moment, for the French police quickly take him in. Instead of killing him, however, the authorities offer the criminal one last chance to redeem himself by surrendering to the Nazis, posing as a notorious saboteur -- and freeing 100 hostages.
