The theme of the original haunted fantasy used in a contemporary haunted house horror-movie template. Unfortunately, it is used in a lazy, unoriginal way where the volume of the sound is more important than the innovation of story clichés. The production quality is good, but the character of the exorcist required a bigger (and more expensive) actor than Jared Harris. The way to “the other side” to save someone was done better in Insidious, without the need for a load of digital effects.

I never liked the original movie and the remake once again shows me how unnecessary remakes are. This film brings absolutely nothing new, except for more polished tricks. But to reshoot the entire movie just for that seems like very little to me. I wasn't entertained, I wasn't scared, I was bored. An annoying movie that I don't want to see anymore.
