Alex the Lion, Marty the Zebra, Melman the Giraffe, and Gloria the Hippopotamus set out to return to New York after escaping to Africa. Dependent on the mechanical know-how of the notorious chimpanzees and penguins, their plan inevitably goes awry and they find themselves stranded in Monte Carlo, where they try to escape Europe from animal control by joining up with a traveling circus by chance. Led by the venerable Siberian tiger Vitaly, the animal-centered circus has seen better days. During the course of a tour through a series of European cities that ends in a fabulous big top in the heart of London, Alex, Marty, Melman, and Gloria help Vitaly, Gia the jaguar, and Stefano the sea lion, rediscover their passion for show business and reinvent circus performance. English Really stunning animation, one of the best in recent times, good soundtrack and then a few good jokes, especially thanks to the penguins. That concludes the list of positives. If it had been a quarter of an hour longer, I wouldn't have even finished it. What a piece of crap. The story was written by someone who wasn’t right in the head. It’s just dull, dull, dull. And, most importantly, the moral of the story for children is that the circus is the best place for animals to be. Another disappointment this year. ()

English The heroic evolution of these animal escapades brought to fruition. From a scream-filled adventure with minimal wit, to a crazy comedy with minor mishaps, to a highly absurd destination. Fans of the first installment must be fidgeting nervously in their seats when they see the singing Frenchwoman or the valiant tiger jumping through the keyhole, but I almost tore my diaphragm. Perfectly nonsensical lines, a patched-together story, and a new influx of bizarre characters ultimately make this the best of the Madagascar series. The scene with "Firework" by Katy Perry took my breath away, while it came home to me how perfectly a film series that started so humbly can be saved. ()

English I can’t help it, but the quality of this franchise improves with every episode. Once again, the filmmakers played with it beautifully and created an extremely entertaining mix of crazy action scenes that cannot be compared to the first one. The old characters entertain with even more verve and enthusiasm, the new ones fit in perfectly, and the sequence of great ideas and jokes just never ends. It's not without moralising like "how could you lie to us that you're from the circus", but that's the mainstay of films like this, as well as the spectacular, crazy and, of course, happy ending that the excited kids are waiting for. I wasn't expecting it, but in the battle with Ice Age 4, Madagascar 3 triumphs! If it goes on like this, I would welcome at least one more sequel... ()

English After an average first film and an above average second, whilst here is... a below average third film. Annoying. Too much shouting. Crazy, but at the same time hardly funny at all (an honorable exception is Vitaly the tiger and his jumping through hoops). With great animation and dubbing (Gia the jaguar and Jessica Chastain's cute accent), but also with a rather dull story full of exactly those repeated lessons you expect... No, no. So we didn't hit it off with the third Madagascar at first. But I'll probably give it a second chance sometime, just like I did the first one recently. ()

English After the very mediocre Madagascar 2, I approached the third part with a degree of suspicion. However, my fears were in vain. Madagascar 3 was a really brisk, fun and colourful ride. Admittedly, the third installment doesn't have much in common with the original title in terms of location, but so be it. I really liked the songs that were chosen for the soundtrack - “Non je ne regrette rien”, “Time to Say Goodbye” and especially “Firework”. The absolute most unforgettable scene was the circus performance accompanied by Katy Perry's “Firework”, which awakened in me the little and enthusiastic child that is in all of us. The romantic line, strangely enough, really amused me. A solid continuation (and hopefully ending) of one of the most outstanding animated series of the last few years, in which the only things that bothered me were the obvious lecturing (which belongs here) and sometimes Captain Chantel DuBois - but otherwise it was nice.
