If I close my eyes, turn off my brain for a moment and throw myself onto the wave of kitsch and clichés, Bandslam is actually a refreshing (albeit many times seen) movie. I found the lead actor completely unlikable and saw a certain resemblance to one of the Jonas Brothers. And why the 3*?! Well the soundtrack was listenable, Vanessa Hudgens was less saccharine than in High School Musical and the performances of veterans like Lisa Kudrow and David Bowie were nice. All in all, High School Musical in a better and less sugar-coated package, which I was particularly impressed with musically. ()
