Burlesque

The young film journalist and documentary filmmaker Jan Kučera's fascination with the Soviet montage school is undeniable. The editing of the mute torso of an unfinished sound film was most of all inspired by the works of Dziga Vertov, but also by Lev Kuleshov's studio and the works of other filmakers. Further sources of inspiration can be found in surrealism and French avant-garde. A film card and trick game metaphorically illustrates archive film recordings of WW1 battles in contrast to the black and white flowers. (Marienbad Film Festival)
