Sergej Stepanowitsch Tschachotin lived to the age of almost 100 and during his long and vibrant life he worked as a microbiologist in Russia, was a revolutionary and a democrat and designed the iconic logo of the “Iron Front“ which was intended to counter Nazi imagery. Born in 1883, he was married five times, fathered eight sons and left his mark throughout Europe. Since his death in 1973 his urn has been sitting on top of a cupboard awaiting its final resting place. His great-grandson, the director of the film, questions the man’s sons about their enigmatic father. Through powerful images and words the fascinating life history of an intellectual high flier eloquently unfolds, leading us directly into the labyrinth of the 20th Century. (DOK.fest München)
