Many of Paramount Studios' top stars make cameo appearances in this off-the-wall comedy, including Bob Hope, Gary Cooper, Bing Crosby, Alan Ladd, Paulette Goddard, William Holden, Joan Caulfield, Cecil B. DeMille, and Barbara Stanwyck. Set in a Hollywood studio in 1946, an unknown blonde actress steals the stage name of Amber LeVonne, which is in use by Catherine Brown (Mary Hatcher), a young woman whose secret history is unknown even to herself. "LeVonne" stumbles her way from audition to screen test to stage debut, dragging the gifted Catherine Brown along with her in an endless series of mistaken identities. The madness ceases only for the musical numbers by Peal Bailey and Spike Jones. Songs include "I Want My Money Back," "Harmony," "He Can Waltz," "Tired," "Your Heart Calling Mine," "Tallahassee," and "The French." (official distributor synopsis)
