Most people connect the term marijuana with the word drug. However, there are people who connect it inherently with a more useful word; cure. If we think about the reason for this, we have to seek the answer in the way that marijuana is presented to the majority of people in society. The documentary Run from the Cure is about the brisk Rick Simpson, who would be designated by the above-mentioned society as a quack, and who is trying to redress this problem. Rick has probably invented a method to turn the harmful substance into the cure; he has extracted oil from the plant. Simpson contributed to this film, which is free for the public and which points out the lack of information about such findings in the mass media. Stylistic criteria do not play a great role, even in this edifying documentary. The more important aspect is the message itself. If half the information were true, then the search for a cure for cancer is practically over. Unfortunately, it is virtually impossible to prove this (at first sight) “utopian” idea, because of the negative attitude and approach of relevant key organizations. It leaves us with the option of proving the truth at our own risk. The film teaches people who want to prove it, how to proceed. (Academia Film Olomouc)
