Audrey Tautou is Nathalie, a beautiful, happy and successful Parisian business executive who finds herself suddenly widowed after a three-year marriage to her soul mate. To cope with her loss, she buries herself and her emotions in her work to the dismay of her friends, family and co-workers. One day, inexplicably, her zest for life and love is rekindled by a most unlikely source, her seemingly unexceptional, gauche, and average looking office subordinate, Markus, (French comic star Francois Damiens, Heartbreaker). At first stunned by Nathalies's unexpected attention, Markus comes to gradually believe in her feelings and shifts into romantic high gear. As their relationship goes from awkward to genuinely loving, Nathalie and Markus will have to overcome a host of obstacles including everyone else's judgmental perceptions as well as their own self-doubts. English Audrey Tautou is a good actress, she is beautiful, but sometimes neither her talent nor her beauty is enough to carry a whole movie to a successful conclusion. "Delicacy" has a nice concept. It is a concept that is for lovers of romantic comedies that are not silly. "Delicacy" appears to be a very artistic film, but in reality, it is nothing more than a romance trying to be a comedy, not uproarious, but simply pleasant and tender... well, it's in the title. At first, the film seems like an exploration of a pleasant relationship. Suddenly, it changes into a drama, leading to the biggest twist in the film, which then continues at its slow pace, which, I don't know why, reminds me of the French countryside. It doesn't rush anywhere, everything has its time, plus there are comedic characters who are not absurd, just a little peculiar here and there. The humor is not wild, but served in small doses to maintain the light speed chosen by the film. And so, the couple slowly gets closer, their relationship gets a little tangled here and there, but otherwise, there is nothing to fear. With its slowness, the film can become boring, and not even the charming smile of the lead actress can change that. The story is not grand, the comedy is not so entertaining, it is all very intimate, humanly, tenderly, and not that interesting.
