Plots(1)

What is life like in a hospital for schizophrenics who have committed crimes? Director John Kastner spent 18 months with patients and hospital staff in Brockville, Canada. His uncritically observing camera captures daily life in a closed ward – the routine, conflicts and occasional romances. Through interviews, the viewer gets an intimate look at the inner world of the sick and the circumstances that led to their hospitalisation. There may not be much hope for reintegrating into everyday life, but the perspicacious staff do their utmost to ensure that the clients become independent again. Can these errant souls return to reality? (One World)
