Plots(1)

Three generations of the notorious Cutler family live as outlaws in the green and pleasant Gloucestershire countryside. They spend their time hunting, thieving and tormenting the police in the heart of Britain's richest neighbourhood. Chad (Michael Fassbender) finds himself torn between respect for his father, Colby (Brendan Gleeson), and a desire to forge a better life for his wife, Kelly (Lyndsey Marshal) and their children. When Colby sets up a burglary that targets a stately home teeming with treasures, Chad is faced with a choice that could change his life forever. Should he follow tradition and do his father's bidding as his rightful son and heir, or should he break the chain and set out on a new path? With the law cracking down on the clan, his father tightening his grip on the family, and prejudices among the local populace becoming ever more entrenched, Chad discovers that his destiny may no longer lie in his own hands. English Despite the promising cast, this is definitely not a film that could compete in the box-office hit of the year category. I assume that it will only briefly appear in movie theaters and viewers will have difficulty seeing it on the big screen. The truth is that this film is one of those that are suited for a small screen because it doesn't rely on special effects and set design. I remember the astonishment caused by Brad Pitt's character as a white gypsy in Snatch among less informed viewers. In Great Britain, gypsies do not have an ethnic dimension, it is a social category, the labeling of people who live a nomadic lifestyle and have a specific value system different from the rest of the population. The protagonist of the film is also one of these travelers - on one hand, he is the most promising successor of the aging clan leader, who should one day lead the whole family, and on the other, he becomes increasingly visible as a daring rebel who sees the need to adapt to the rapidly changing world, who wants to educate his children, and who wants to say no where tradition tells him to say yes. However, the surrounding world does not particularly care about him, the power of prejudices and legitimate mistrust takes its toll. Only the family can offer a helping hand against the pressure from the surroundings. Trespass Against Us is a work that combines social and psychological drama, as well as elements of crime with action. It can be proud of its dramatic escape from the scene of a robbery, just like a purebred crime thriller. Overall impression: 70%. ()

English I guess I need a bit more than just an hour and a half of the nomadic life in the UK with all that entails, including theft, extortion, etc. It's superbly raw, and Michael Fassbender and Brendan Gleeson are amazing, but there's hardly anything going on. It’s basically ninety minutes of the protagonist pondering wether he has to do “it” or not. And that’s also where it ends. ()

English Michael Fassbender is such a great actor that I'd settle for actually just watching him. But a movie should have a story, and this story of one family isn't exactly uninteresting, but here it's just... I don't know, it's intense, but it's also lackluster, focusing on individual scenes, but it’s lacking something more complex. ()
