Plots(1)

In the streets of old Hong Kong, it was once common to get a portion of fried rice for a pittance. This hugely popular dish has disappeared as a result of several waves of "modernisation". The taste and the smell of rice you are served in restaurants of modern Hong Kong today do not even begin to compare to those of the cautiously and patiently prepared rice. In the nostalgic film by Herman Yau, the Hong Kong fried rice is turned into the symbol of a vanishing local tradition. (IFF Bratislava)
